KLY-2 Kappabridge combined with CS-L cryostat and CS-2 furnace (Geofyzika/Agico)

Function: The Kappabridge allows characterization of rockmagnetic fabric through precise measurement of the anisotropy of low-field magnetic susceptibility (AMS) and discrimination of minerals by their low-temperature transitions and Curie or Neel points.

Frequency: 920 Hz
Sensitivity: 4 x 10-8 SI
Measurement time: 5 minutes for room-temperature AMS determination, approximately 90 minutes for the low-temperature run and almost 2 hours for the high-temperature sweep (depending on heating rate).

GSM-19 Proton-Magnetometer (GEM Systems)

Function: The GEM Systems GSM-19 is a standard proton precession magnetometer with a walking magnetometer, gradiometer option, providing a standard sensitivity of 0.2 nT/vHz and 1.0 nT absolute accuracy. The long term stability and modular design make the GSM-19 ideal for a wide variety of applications such as: magnetic and magnetic gradient geological mapping of structure and lithology, magnetic and magnetic gradient surveying of archaeological, environmental or geotechnical sites, mineral exploration surveys, base station monitoring of magnetic field variations.
Sensitivity: 0.2 nT/vHz
Resolution: 0.01 nT
Absolute accuracy: 1.0 nT
Dynamic range: 20000 to 100000 nT
Serial interface: RS-232C

JR-5A Spinner Magnetometer (Geofyzika/Agico)

Function: The JR-5A (automated) version is destined for rapid and accurate measurement of remanent magnetization. The specimen is manually only inserted into the specimen holder and the changes of positions in the holder in order to get complete vector are made automatically by the instrument. Rock specimen rotates at a constant angular speed in the pick-up unit inside a pair of Helmholtz coils. In the coils an AC voltage is induced whose amplitude and phase depend on magnitude and direction of the remanent magnetization vector.
Specimen dimension: cube of 20 x 20 x 20 mm / cylinder with 25 mm diameter, 21 mm height
Speed of rotation: 89.3 Hz
Measuring ranges: 1.6 mA/m, 16 mA/m, ……1600 A/m
Noise: 2.4 µA/m
Sensitivity: 2.4 µA/m
Accuracy of measurements of the vector components: 2.4 µA/m
Serial interface: RS-232C

KLF-3 Minikappa (Geofyzika/Agico)

Function: The KLF-3 Minikappa magnetic susceptibility meter has been designed for laboratory measurements of magnetic susceptibility of cubic, cylindrical and fragment rock specimens. There are two possible measuring fields fields (30 and 300 A/m). The measurement is fully automated and the ranges are automatically switched over.
Nominal volume: 10 cm3

Magnetic Measurements Low Field Cage (Magnetic Measurements)

Function: The Magnetic Measurements Low Field Cage (MMLFC) was designed to meet the need of a modern palaeomagnetic research laboratory that requires measurement and demagnetization to be carried out in a near zero field environment (central field < 25 nT) to avoid magnetic viscosity effects. The MMLFC consists of 15 square coils, 5 in each of 3 directions, all automatically controlled by a 3 axis fluxgate magnetometer. The MMLFC will cancel the earth field and 50/60Hz mains generated magnetic fields. The coils are counterbalanced and can be opened for easy access.

Thermal Demagnetiser MMTD1 (Magnetic Measurements)

The oven controller is fully programmable and will allow up to 3 heating or cooling ramps with hold times in between. The samples can be forced cooled (800°C to 35°C in 25 minutes) by automatic operation or cooled down a slow thermal ramp.
