Geothermal Research Group participated at the European Geothermal Congress (EGC) in Strasbourg

With more than 800 participants, the European Geothermal Congress is the largest geothermal event in entire Europe. After stations in Basel, Szeged, Unterhaching and Pisa, this year’s congress took place at the Strasbourg Convention and Exhibition Center, where various events were offered to the participants from 19th to 22nd September 2016. The conference programme included both, oral and poster presentations with contributions from local, European, and Global leaders, and sessions covering science and research, education, policy making, financing and communication. The conference was accompanied by an industry exhibition, training courses and site visits to regional geothermal projects. Moreover, several networking events and side-conferences were organized.

The Geothermal Research group from the Institute of Applied Geosciences and the Institute of Nuclear Waste Disposal at KIT was represented by 22 participants and the members contributed to the conference with in total 9 oral, and 9 poster presentations. The geothermal research program at KIT was presented with an own booth in the convention, which was a contact and discussion point for numerous researchers and industrial partners

With various new contacts, ideas and impressions, the conference was a successful event for the group.
