In the Master's program in Applied Geosciences Karlsruhe at KIT, students can choose between three profiles:
- Energy, Resources & Storage (ERS)
- Hydro- & Engineering Geology (HydroIng)
- Mineralogy & Geochemistry (MiG)
- or elective Applied Geosciences (Flexi-Geo)
Detailed information on the respective profiles, including compulsory and proposed events, can be found under the corresponding profile names (see below).
In addition, the Master's programme in Applied Geosciences can also be freely designed. Within the areas "Geoscientific Core Competences" (55 LP), "Geoscientific Specializations" (min. 25LP, max. 35LP) and "Subject-related Supplements" (max. 10 LP), the modules can be selected at will from the course offerings.
Irrespective of whether the Master is studied according to one of the three profiles or whether the modules are chosen freely, the following three courses are compulsory for all Master students:
- Numerical methods in geosciences (6 LP),
- Mapping course & geodata processing (8 LP),
- Project study or internship (5 LP).
You will find a selection of possible fields of activity, subdivided according to the three advanced profiles, under Occupational areas.
The regular study and examination regulations apply. Confirmation of successful participation in a profile is given by the examination board upon application by the student at the end of his/her studies.
